Engagement session, yes or no? Spoiler: YES!!!
You may be wondering if you need an engagement session or what the point is. If you are, welcome! I’m delighted to answer this question for you! (even if you’re not wondering, keep reading!)
So glad you asked! There are a few reasons why you need one and I’d be happy to tell you about them!
1. We get to know each other.
If we already know each other, this is still valid! We get to know each other in a different way and I get to know your fiance, and you both get to know me. The best part of this is that when your special day arrives, and I show up for photos, we feel like friends instead of strangers.

2. You both learn how I work.
Think of this as practice for the wedding day. Trust me, you both are going to be great! But we can accomplish portraits much fast and more smoothly on your wedding day since you will know my systems.
3. You get pictures to remember this season of your life!
Your engagement won’t last forever. And it will probably go much faster than the other seasons of you life. So why not save it for memories’ sake? Your engagement deserves to be remembered as much as the rest of your love story! Plus, we can do this early enough so that you can use these photos for your invitations.

But what if my fiance doesn’t like taking pictures??
Don’t worry, your fiance is a normal guy! I’ve had guys that would tell you that pictures are not their thing. But after a session, I think most of them would have to admit that they had a lot more fun than they thought they would!
At your session, I make it my top priority to make sure that both of you have a lot of fun! I want you to remember your engagement session as the time you got to hang out with each other and just be yourselves! Your fiance and you will be much better at this picture thing than both of you think and I’d love to prove that to you!
One last tip, I will always recommend that you have your engagement session photographed by the person who will be photographing your wedding. That way, you learn to know the photographer who will be with you on your day. Because like it or not, (hopefully like it!) you spend more time with your photographer on your wedding day than you do with anyone else besides your fiance, family and bridal party.
